My daughter and I recently discovered the great book Basketball Belles: How Two Teams and One Scrappy Player Put Women's Hoops on the Map by Sue Macy and illustrated by Matt Collins. It tells the story of Agnes Morley who played a very different looking brand of basketball for Stanford University. She was part of the the first female college hoops game and helped her Stanford team play against Cal. It took much bravery for these women to play basketball since so many felt that sports were not for women. Honor these pioneers of women's basketball by purchasing Basketball Belles!
